The Claims Process
What happens after you file a claim with DRR
- 1
Initial dispatch + emergency mitigation
Crew on-site within 60 minutes (Phoenix Metro target). Water extraction, board-up, tarping, content protection — whatever stops the loss from getting worse. Time-stamped photos and arrival documentation start immediately.
- 2
Carrier notification + claim number
We coordinate with your insurance carrier or TPA to confirm coverage and get a claim number assigned. If you haven't filed yet, we walk you through the process.
- 3
Xactimate scope + adjuster meeting
Your DRR project manager builds a complete Xactimate scope (line-item, with photos and moisture readings) and meets the adjuster on-site if requested. Most adjusters prefer this — it streamlines their inspection.
- 4
Approved scope + work begins
Once the carrier approves the scope, work begins. Daily updates with progress photos, moisture readings (water claims), or air-quality sampling (mold/biohazard). Everything documented for the claim file.
- 5
Supplements as discovered
If hidden damage is uncovered during the job (deeper saturation, hidden mold, structural compromise), we file a supplement with photo documentation and negotiate it with your adjuster.
- 6
Completion + carrier billing
Final walkthrough, post-mitigation verification (moisture content, air clearance), and final invoice. We bill the carrier directly where allowed; you pay only your deductible (and any uncovered scope items, which are agreed in writing up front).
FAQ
Insurance & claims — FAQ
Do you bill my insurance directly?
Yes — direct billing is available where the carrier allows it. We invoice the carrier on completion and coordinate with your adjuster throughout the job. For carriers that require homeowner-pay-then-reimburse, we provide Xactimate-compliant estimates and detailed daily documentation so your reimbursement is straightforward.
Will you work with my insurance company?
Almost certainly. We routinely work with every major US carrier (State Farm, Allstate, USAA, Travelers, Liberty Mutual, Farmers, Nationwide, Progressive, AAA, GEICO Commercial, Chubb, The Hartford, and others) plus the major TPA networks (Crawford, Sedgwick, Alacrity, Contractor Connection, Code Blue). If your carrier isn't listed, call us — we'll confirm same day.
What is Xactimate and why does it matter for my claim?
Xactimate is the industry-standard pricing software insurance adjusters use to calculate restoration costs. Carrier-ready Xactimate estimates speed up claim approval and reduce supplement back-and-forth. Every DRR scope is documented in Xactimate format from day one — line-item, defensible, and what your adjuster expects to see.
What's a supplement, and do you handle them?
A supplement is an additional claim filing for damage discovered during the job that wasn't visible at initial scope (hidden mold, deeper saturation, structural compromise behind drywall). Yes — we negotiate supplements directly with your adjuster and provide the moisture readings, photos, and structural notes that justify them.
Will using DRR raise my insurance rates?
DRR is a contractor, not an insurance party. Whether a claim affects your rates depends entirely on your policy and carrier — the contractor you choose for restoration doesn't factor in. What does affect your claim outcome is documentation quality and scope defensibility, both of which are what we deliver.
What's the difference between DRR and a 'preferred vendor'?
Some carriers maintain preferred-vendor lists tied to specific TPA contracts. DRR is not a preferred vendor for every carrier we work with — but you, as the policyholder, have the legal right to choose any licensed contractor for your restoration. Many adjusters prefer working with documented IICRC-certified firms regardless of preferred-vendor status because the documentation quality reduces their workload.
Are my out-of-pocket costs only the deductible?
In most covered claims, yes — your deductible is what you pay out of pocket, and we work directly with your carrier for the remainder. Exceptions exist (uncovered scope items, depreciation hold-back on actual cash value policies), but those are explained up front in writing. We never start work that isn't documented and authorized.
Ready to start a claim?
Have your policy number and claim number handy if you have them. If you don't — call anyway. We'll walk you through it.
